Highlights

Overview

Ama Dablam is regarded as one of the most striking and technically demanding peaks in the Himalayas. Rising above the Khumbu Valley, this elegant mountain attracts experienced climbers seeking a challenging ascent that combines steep rock, ice, and exposed ridges. Although lower than the 8,000 meter giants, Ama Dablam demands strong technical skills and solid high altitude experience.

The expedition begins with a trek through the Everest region, allowing climbers to acclimatize while passing Sherpa villages and monasteries. From Ama Dablam Base Camp, the route follows the Southwest Ridge, involving fixed ropes, vertical sections, and sustained exposure. The climb requires precise movement, teamwork, and favorable weather conditions.

Ama Dablam is best suited for climbers with prior experience on technical peaks above 6,000 meters. The reward is an unforgettable summit experience, offering breathtaking views across the Khumbu Himal and a deep sense of achievement on one of Nepal’s most iconic mountains.

Itinerary

Day 1–2: Arrival in Kathmandu

Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport. Transfer to the hotel, rest, and attend an expedition briefing covering itinerary, permits, equipment, and safety. Final gear checks are completed in preparation for the high altitude climb.

Morning flight to Lukla with Himalayan views. Begin trekking through pine forests and villages along the Dudh Koshi River to Phakding, helping your body adjust to the altitude.

Continue through Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, and Pangboche, enjoying panoramic mountain views. Arrive at Ama Dablam Base Camp, the main hub for rest, acclimatization, and climbing preparations.

Rotate between Base Camp and higher camps, practicing ice and rock techniques, setting fixed ropes, and gradually adjusting to altitude under guide supervision.

Ascend through Camp I, II, and III. Navigate steep ice and rock sections of the Southwest Ridge and attempt the summit during a favorable weather window. Descend safely afterward.

Return to Base Camp, rest, and pack up. Ensure the area is left clean and safe for future expeditions.

Retrace the route through Pangboche and Namche Bazaar to Lukla. Overnight stays in villages along the way offer comfort and scenic views.
