Lower Mustang, often called the “Forbidden Kingdom,” is one of Nepal’s most remote and culturally rich regions. Nestled between the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges, the area is known for its arid, desert-like landscapes, dramatic canyons, and windswept plateaus. The isolation of Mustang has preserved its centuries-old Tibetan Buddhist traditions, offering travelers a rare glimpse into a world largely untouched by modernity.
The trek takes you through ancient villages with whitewashed houses, traditional monasteries, and narrow stone paved alleys. Along the way, you’ll meet locals whose lives are closely tied to the rhythms of the mountains, witnessing festivals, rituals, and daily routines that have changed little over time. Every step offers both natural beauty and cultural depth, making Lower Mustang a unique Himalayan experience.
The journey combines moderate trekking with high altitude exploration, panoramic views, and cultural immersion. From the entry point at Kagbeni to the walled capital of Lo Manthang, travelers experience a mix of desert landscapes, snow capped peaks in the distance, and the timeless ambiance of one of Nepal’s most legendary regions.
