Overview
Mount Kailash, standing at 6,638 meters, is one of the most sacred mountains in the world. The overland journey from Nepal offers a gradual ascent into western Tibet’s remote landscapes.
The tour includes a visit to Lake Manasarovar and the three day Kailash Kora, a sacred circumambulation around the mountain. Crossing the challenging Dolma La Pass and walking beneath the north face of Kailash is considered a life changing spiritual experience.
This pilgrimage combines devotion, adventure, and dramatic Himalayan scenery, making it one of the most unique journeys in Asia.
Itinerary
Day 1: Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi
Early morning drive north from Kathmandu through scenic hills and river valleys. Overnight in Syabrubesi near the border.
Day 2: Drive to Kerung (2,700 m)
Drive to Rasuwagadhi border. Complete immigration formalities and enter Tibet. Continue to Kerung. Overnight stay.
Day 3: Acclimatization in Kerung
Rest and short hikes for altitude adjustment.
Day 4: Drive from Kerung to Saga (4,450 m)
Drive across high passes and vast plateau landscapes. Overnight in Saga.
Day 5: Drive from Saga to Lake Manasarovar (4,590 m)
Scenic drive with first distant views of Mount Kailash. Explore the sacred lake upon arrival.
Day 6: Lake Manasarovar to Darchen (4,670 m)
Morning spiritual activities near the lake. Short drive to Darchen, preparation for kora.
Day 7: Trek to Dirapuk (4,900 m) – Kora Day 1
Begin Kailash Kora. Trek along the western and northern face of Mount Kailash.
Day 8: Trek to Zuthulpuk (4,790 m) – Kora Day 2
Cross Dolma La Pass (5,630 m), the highest point of the journey. Descend to Zuthulpuk.
Day 9: Complete Kora and Drive to Saga – Kora Day 3
Finish the kora and drive back to Saga.
Day 10: Drive from Saga to Kerung
Return drive across the plateau. Overnight in Kerung.
Day 11: Drive to Kathmandu
Cross border and return to Kathmandu.
Day 12: Final Departure
Transfer to airport for onward journey.
