The overland journey from Nepal offers a gradual ascent into western Tibet’s remote landscapes.

Itinerary

Day 1: Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi

Early morning drive north from Kathmandu through scenic hills and river valleys. Overnight in Syabrubesi near the border.

Drive to Rasuwagadhi border. Complete immigration formalities and enter Tibet. Continue to Kerung. Overnight stay.

Rest and short hikes for altitude adjustment.

Drive across high passes and vast plateau landscapes. Overnight in Saga.

Scenic drive with first distant views of Mount Kailash. Explore the sacred lake upon arrival.

Morning spiritual activities near the lake. Short drive to Darchen, preparation for kora.

Begin Kailash Kora. Trek along the western and northern face of Mount Kailash.

Cross Dolma La Pass (5,630 m), the highest point of the journey. Descend to Zuthulpuk.

Finish the kora and drive back to Saga.

Return drive across the plateau. Overnight in Kerung.

Cross border and return to Kathmandu.

Transfer to airport for onward journey.
